Sequoia, California

Sequoia is the second oldest national park in the US, established in 1890 after our leaders recognized that these trees were national tresures that were both limited in quantity and were being destroyed. I read that there are still areas in Kings Canyon where damage from logging serves as a painful reminder of what could have been lost. For me, the experience was surreal.. there are few places I have been that even come close the the beauty this place has to offer. It is almost as if it has been shielded to some extent from human corruption.. difficult to explain, but there is something good about it that endures, and leaves all who enter changed if you will let it.
